How It Works:
When a client is enrolled in a debt settlement program, they stop paying their creditors directly and are put on an affordable monthly payment plan. Those payments are held in an attorney trust account that continues to accrue month after month.  After a certain period of non-payment, most creditors will accept settlement offers for 40-50% of the principal balance. The entire settlement term is typically 2-3 years depending on the total debt enrolled.

Most clients who enroll in debt settlement are unable to stay current with minimum payments and may have already begun to experience collection activity and derogatory credit marks.  Throughout the duration of the program, clients may be subject to these activities until all accounts are settled.  However, most clients are willing to make this sacrifice in order to be debt free in a few short years rather than struggle for decades.
